No such thing as overnight success

There’s no such thing as overnight success when building a business based on relationships. Making a living in a profession that asks clients to trust you with their dreams and likely the largest purchase of their lives takes time to build. So what’s one of the best ways to build trust and thus build your client base, from a marketing perspective? Consistency! Consistency and frequency create trust and keep you top of mind with your network of clients, referral partners, and prospects.
In order to maintain consistency, I encourage my clients to pick a level of marketing activity they can maintain. For example, maybe it’s one blog post per week and one social media post per day; but whatever you choose, make sure it’s something you can reasonably do over the long haul. Remember, small steps taken consistently add up to big results over time.
Consistency is key in three ways:

1. Delivery – Make sure you are delivering your message in a consistent manner like a once monthly newsletter, weekly blog posts and daily social media posts. You threaten the trust of your network when they don’t hear from you for long periods of time.
2. Message – Your message needs to be consistent as well. Pick an overall message or theme or specialty and go with it.
3. Modes – Create some consistency in how you communicate as well, whether it’s by email or printed newsletter or social media. It doesn’t mean you cannot try new things but if your audience is used to hearing from you in certain ways, maintaining consistency will continue to build trust.

Keeping in touch with your network is not always easy but it’s part of your marketing plan that is sure to reward you with a steady stream of leads and opportunities. So whatever you need to do, make consistency your goal.

If I can help set you on a course of consistent communication, let me know! I love helping real estate, mortgage and other independent professionals succeed using social media and digital marketing through one-on-one coaching, online courses, and content creation.

Cheers,
Melissa
