Is Blogging Necessary for Mortgage Professionals?

Always marketing. Always selling. That’s the life and business of a successful mortgage professional. Having a blog can be a great marketing tool that’s marketing and selling for you 24/7. But finding the time to actually sit down and write a blog post a couple times a week is not always easy.

Why is having a blog so important?

  1. To build and maintain relationships – As we know, getting business is largely about building relationships and having a blog can be a great way to stay in touch and in front of clients, prospects and referral partners.
  1. Find new clients – Consistent blog posting will undoubtedly increase your visibility and thus potential to attract new clients.
  1. Establish yourself as a trusted advisor – The more that your clients, prospects, referral partners and surrounding community trust you, the more business you will get from them.
  1. Increase search engine rankings – Posting regular blogs will immediately increase your search ranking. Research shows that people who have blogged at least five times in the last 7 days will get 6.9 times more search traffic.
  1. It’s the foundation of your other social media activities – The content in your blog posts makes great content for your social media posts. You can use pull quotes from your blog in your social media posts and thereby promote your blog and keep your social media posts interesting and relevant to your audience.

Consistency is key with blogging and you need to post two to three times per month to get the exposure and search engine benefits.
