047. What's Missing from Most Marketing Strategy that's Holding Us Back
A few years back, I created an online course, spent thousands to launch it multiple times, and each time it didn’t sell well. I thought I needed to improve my marketing, do better, spend more, be more in more places, and find the magic marketing thing. But as the launches went on the response seemed to be less and less and at the end of it all, I sold one. I didn't break even and I felt awful about all of it.
Through the journey to learn why I’d failed, I discovered it wasn’t the marketing strategies letting me down, there was nothing wrong with my marketing. Where I was falling short was in my thinking and the collection of thoughts I was having about myself, my offer, my course, and my business.
So, what this means is, for small businesses like us - I'm not talking about big business, corporate marketing - the level to which we believe in ourselves, our offer, and our business will determine the success of our marketing plan.
