After returning from a great Business Boutique conference last week I was so fired up, motivated and ready to grow my business and take on the world. This week, I’m struggling to capture that same level of motivation. The weight of the day-to-day seems to have caught up with me. Has this ever happened to you? Do you ever feel more motivation and higher productivity than other times? How do you deal with that? What do you do to break out of your funk? I’d love for you to share what works for you in the comments below.
For me, there are three quick blues busters that seem to work every time. In fact, in reminding myself of these tips while writing this post for you, I’m feeling much better already!
Do one thing – If it seems that your project or task list is overwhelming and impossible, the confusion or complexity of where to start may be stealing your mojo, so just start with one thing. Pick on item you can accomplish right now to create forward motion and do that one thing. For me, it’s writing this post, right now! Chances are once you’ve accomplished it you’ll be ready to do one more thing and your momentum will begin to build.
Refocus on your Plan – Analysis to paralysis can often take hold and keep us from being as productive as we can be to move toward our goals. When it seems you are losing focus take some time to re-center and refocus on your plan and what you need to do to make it happen. Simplify your next steps into easy, clear, measurable tasks and get going!
Reach Out – If you’re like me and work primarily on your own, you probably don’t have others, like a boss, telling you what to do, to motivate you and keep you going. That’s where it becomes important to have others you can reach out to. We all need people we can rely on for a kick in the rear-end every now and then and some motivation to keep moving forward. This morning I got to speak to a gal I met at the conference and just that simple conversation was such an awesome motivator. So reach out! You can call or email me anytime! I’m happy to offer you some words of encouragement!
So, what are you going to do to restore your motivation? I challenge you to connect with your mission, your vision for your business and why you do what you do. Then practice the three tips above to move through your funk and get back to the business of building your dreams!
P.S. I exist to inspire women to become entrepreneurs and teach them how to build and market their businesses.
